First of all, the museum is free. The entrance is located on the second floor. They asked for my ID to register me and let me in — drivers license was fine. There are two sections. One for the anthropology that includes pretty interesting things. They walk you through the history and show different influences. There are also some interactive projection. Please note that all explanations are in Spanish, so either take Google Translate or enjoy without it. To me, it was still interesting. The second section is devoted to modern art. That’s was quite a surprise to see some sex-themed items so openly, LGBTQ exposition, etc. Again, no English explanation, which would be helpful for many of the items to understand the context. Yet, it gave me some understanding of the modern art scene of Ecuador. There’s also a section for kids meetup and a coffee shop, both were closed. AC is pretty strong, especially in the contemporary art section. By the way, the exit is on the first floor (downstairs) too. The staff who registered me spoke good English. There were not so many people, I’ve seen less than 5 during my 2-hour visit, in the whole museum. Maybe it’s not the season to visit. To sum up, I would recommend this museum. It’s fun, it gives you an intro to the culture, and it has some cool exhibitions. Check it out!

A cinema and museum in Malecón 2000. A must stop before getting to Las Peñas

Don't miss this museum during your visit to Guayaquil. Rotating exhibitions of contemporary art and an excellent permanent installation of centuries of ceramics. Ask the receptionist if there are any special events. Many of the signs are in English and Spanish. Free entry. No stairs to access the museum or gallery.

The place perfectly located in the Malecón of Guayaquil is one of the most complete about Valdivia and other Ecuadorian pre-Columbian cultures. The exhibition is well set and takes you in a very interesting anthropological journey. It takes time to wonder around every corner full of beautiful ancient work. The museum could be better but it seems the central government is not interested enough in keep it running properly.
