Great place to try some traditional dishes the Lojaño way. We ordered tamales, humitas, quimbolito, and tigrillos and it looked ridiculous with sola y plates, but we finished it all. I would eat it all again and I particularly enjoyed the tigrillo as I had never had that before, it’s chicharrón with eggs and plátanos, scrambled and fried. If you’re touring through Loja I’d highly recommend dropping in here for breakfast, lunch or dinner to have some affordable and tasty Ecuadorian food. The juices were also quite good, which has not been the case throughout Loja so far.

Tried our first Tamal Lojano for breakfast. Reminded me more of a humita with meat filling than a tamal. The mote con chicharrón with egg was a better choice. Excellent selection of juice. Coffee a little on the weak side but good quality.
My favorite place to go to eat something traditional of my city.

La comida muy rica, pero pedí un capuccino y me sirvieron uno que parecía café instantáneo, creo que en una ciudad con tan buen café eso es casi un pecado.
El "tamal lojano" restaurante icónico de nuestra ciudad. El lugar es limpio y ordenado, es agradable. La atención no es en la mesa, se debe realizar la orden en caja y todo eso (no me agrada personalmente). La comida .... Mmmm es buena supongo, pero solo hasta ahí, no es extraordinaria. La última vez que estuve ahí pues no me encantó, solo me gustó. El café no me gustó estaba muy aguado (como agua de porotos) jajajajajajajajaja lo que si me gusta mucho es la salsa de ají que hacen, esa sí es de fábula. En fin, supongo que no se puede decir que es un mal restaurante solo que está algo sobrevalorado.
