More than 25 years ago, Cenit was created by the Sisters of the Good Shepherd in response to the high numbers of working children in the city of Quito, especially among young girls. Fast forward to 2017, Cenit carries on with its quest to eradicate child labour, promote their rights, and improve their living conditions in the sectors of Camal and San Roque. Cenit functions both as a NGO and as a community school, providing educational support, health prevention, and cheap meals to the children, while playing an active role in its neighbourghoods daily life through the organization of cultural events and social gatherings. Its full-time ecuadorian staff works in conjunction with a dedicated team of volunteers from all horizons in order to support their communities and safeguard the future of their children.
