Gaby is extremely helpful in arranging g your entire travel schedule. She gives you all options within your budget. She speaks English as well as Spanish. Our trip was complicated due to traveling with our grandkids, ages 6 and 5. Our trip was to the Galapagos. She has arranged every detail and taken the stress out of the trip. I highly recommend her and her travel agency.

We had a great tour of Cajas National Park with Cuenca Bestours. Javier, the owner, was very friendly & helpful with getting it all set up. Our guide was Edy & he was awesome. He is bi-lingual (English/Spanish) and extremely knowlegeable & was able to answer all of our questions - he is from Cuenca & is a national guide and has been a tour guide for 10 years. On the way to the park he explains some history of the park & there is also an option to stop at a market to buy snacks/water if needed. For the first part of the tour we did about a 2.5-3 hour hike through the middle-high part of the park. Edy gave us information about the wetlands, the history, and the plants & animals there. We even saw some llamas! We also took a nice break at a viewpoint. After this the driver picked us up and we went to a restaurant for lunch. After lunch we went to another section of the park, with the lowest altitude, and hiked for about 1.5 hours around a beautiful lake. Overall it was a great day and I highly recommend Cuenca Bestours. Ask for Edy as your guide!
Excellent tour company! I'd highly recommend asking for Wilson as your guide when you come to Cuenca, he's awesome! I had a great cooking class in Cuenca and Wilson added in a few extra stops to share extra information about the city. We drove to a local not touristy market to pick out the produce ourselves and then cooked our meal at a local's home, it was so unique and memorable. They also accommodated my dietary restrictions. Exceeded my expectations, 20/10.
We visited Cuenca in November and booked the tour to go to the Devil’s nose and Ingapirca. Unfortunately, the train wasn’t working until December. Javier was very prompt in contacting us with an alternative to go to Devil’s nose lookout, then mountain bike down and hike up. He was also flexible to change the days because of Ingapirca being only opened on the weekends. Javier was our driver and Wilson was out tour guide, with another tour guide Silvia joining us. The van was very comfortable for the long ride. Wilson was very knowledgeable about Ingapirca and Ecuador in general. Javier was always in contact with me to suggest what else we can do in Cuenca (outside of their tours). And as much as we were hesitant about mountain biking (my first time), it was very safe and fun...we ended up piling in a small truck to go up instead of a hike. It was a fun and adventurous day - really felt like we were just hanging out with a group of friends. I look forward to going back to Cuenca one day!
You have to go to Cajas National Park when in Cuenca. I’m so glad I decided to go with Cuenca Bestours. There is many parts of the trail that are unmarked and muddy and slippery. I’m glad we had an experienced guide! Our guide was Edy & he was super informative. He is bi-lingual (English/Spanish) and extremely knowlegeable & was able to answer all of our questions. The first part of the tour we did about a 2.5-3 hour moderate hike through the middle-high part of the park. Edy gave us information about the wetlands, the history, and the plants & animals there. The flora and fauna and fungi where fairytale like. This is a very unique ecosystem known as “Paramo” where the lands store water and can be explained more by your guide Edy. We then went to lunch, I packed my own lunch since I’m vegetarian. After lunch we went to another section of the park, with the lowest altitude, and hiked for about 1.5 hours around a beautiful lake. The scenery was out of this world. Overall it was a great day and I highly recommend Cuenca Bestours.
My husband and I did this tour two days ago and we still marvel at how good our guide was (Wilson). The tour itself is ideal to see how diverse and beautiful Cajas National Park is, but what made it even more memorable were all the detailed explanations provided by our guide, his authenticity, kindness and genuine passion for the park, for Cuenca, for his country. He knew a lot because he cares a lot. Cuenca Bestours has raised the standard so high, the quality of service was excellent, it’s going to be hard to maintain that level for the rest of the trip...
Thank you to Cuenca Bestours and Javier for taking great care of me during my two weeks in Cuenca solo! As a solo female traveler being comfortable with tour guides is of utmost importance. I’ve been to over 90 countries and I’ve had many guides. Javier is very professional, on time and flexible. All my tours were private given pandemic times. In total, I did three tours with Cuenca Bestours over the two weeks. I did the Quenca City Tour and learned so much about the city of Cuenca and Ecuadorian culture and food. I also did the Cajas National Park Tour which was beautiful and a peaceful mid-moderate hike. However, the highlight of my stay was the 3 day/2nts I spent in Vilcabamba with stops in Olna, Saraguro and Loja! Vilcabamba is absolutely breathtaking! I went horseback riding and to a small local coffee plantation. I could’ve just sat in awe of the beauty without any excursions. I’ll definitely get back to Vilcabamba and Cuenca! Thank you again Javier and Cuenca Bestours for your professionalism and sharing your culture with me!
We decided to go with Cuenca Best Tour based on a quick google search while in Cuenca: we were not disappointed! Communication with the agency was easy and clear from the get go. We did the day tour in Cajas National Park and it went above and beyond our expectations. I was told this agency only hires excellent guides and it proved to be true. Wilson was our driver and guide and he showed us what a real guide should be: professional, competent, speaks 4 languages, extremely knowledgeable (for example, he knew all the scientific names of the plants we encountered in the park, and also gave us a comprehensive sociological and historical account of Cuenca during the drive), kind and fun. He also produces amazing local products which we got to sample during the tour (and eventually purchased given how good they were). The place we had lunch at (Las Cuevas) doesn’t look like much from the outside but the food was among the best we had in Ecuador. I gather that the owner of the agency, Javier, chose it over another more famous establishment for the quality of the food, which says a lot about his attention to details. Admittedly, Cuenca Bestours is a small agency compared to the other big ones based in Quito, but they care about the service they provide, and it shows! We would recommend them to anyone!
