Fundación Maquipucuna is a non-profit organization established in 1988 based in the Chocó Andean cloud forests of Ecuador. Our purpose is to combat climate change by working to protect one of the most biodiverse ecosystems in the world. We are doing this by providing sustainable and dignified economic alternatives suchs as ecotourism and sustainable agro production, working alongside communities to help them establish their own sustainable ventures, teaching environmental education to ensure future generations are aware of the impact they can have, and conducting or facilitating essential research in a biodiversity hotspot. The foundation runs a 14,000 acre private reserve as well as an internationally awarded ecolodge in the northern tip of the reserve.
