A really great getaway less than an hour from Quito. What can I say about this magical place, except that it was spectacular! A quiet, clean, comfortable, relaxing hacienda, in the Andes surrounded by native forest, it made for some great walks, cycling and birdwatching. The room had a heater, the beds were super comfortable and the food was amazing! Raul, the super affable and helpful owner, went out of his way to ensure that we got tasty vegan food too (good news fir vegans). With several gardens, hammocks, and spectacular views of the several surrounding peaks, we just cannot recommend Sierra Alisos highly enough. Whether it be for independent travellers, couples or families, this place is a must if you want to escape from beautiful, but busy, Quito for a few days! Thanks so much Raul!

Truly a magical hotel nestled away 10,000 ft in the highlands... the BEST hotel I have ever stayed at. From the amazing views, Gorgeous gardens and quiet trails looping through the cloud forest, you will find yourself at peace! The staff and manager were extremely friendly and helpful, they cooked amazing meals and treat you like family. When horseback riding is available, it is a must! I will surly be back to visit this majestical landscape and loving host!

Wonderful place! My friend & I stayed for one night and got to know the gorgeous forest, enjoyed delicious foods and the beautiful views onto all the volcanoes! The place is very calm and perfect to enjoy the Andes nature, our room was lovely and we enjoyed an amazing hike the next day up the Atacazo mountain. Highly recommended!

A heritage hacienda transformed in a nice, cozy hostel. Raul, his owner offers unique expeditions to iconic volcanoes and places where mainstream tour operators will never take you. Weather you choose to take a bicycle, horse, car, bike or just walk, be sure you will experience the Andes like a local!

Amazing beautiful place situated on a farm with views of Cotopaxi. Rooms are spacious and extremely well decorated. Full bathrooms and wood burning heaters in the rooms. It is a very special hotel and highly recommended. The staff are 1st class!

I spent two nights at Sierra Alisos with the fabulous company of the owner, Raul. The place is amazing -- a traditional hacienda lovingly restored by Raul (an architect) in a traditional-yet-funky manner. The home-cooked (partly home-grown) food was fabulous. Raul picked me up at the airport. He arranged for walking and horse-riding tours of the area for me and was a delight to get to know. I highly recommend this memorable, relaxing destination just 40 minutes from Quito in the shadow of Cotopaxi..

One hour away from Quito. The perfect escapade when looking for a calming spot, with many things to do: listening to the music that nature perform. Going for an exciting bike or horse ride. Enjoying the sunset with one of the most amazing views of Cotopaxi. Your hosts in Sierra Alisos will definitely make you feel like home, while preparing the perfect experience for you.

We went to a motorcycle event at this hotel and had the luxury of staying there three days. The hotel is a reconstruction of the owner's family's house and it is built in a country natural style that is both beautiful but has all the modern amenities you need. Every room (we were able to tour around several) has views to the lovely gardens kept around the place and is outfitted with working wood stoves that you can light at night (it can get a little chilly). They also have a common area in the house with a fireplace that's lit at night and Raúl (the owner who speaks English) is so extremely hospitable, always making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed, we are eternally grateful. The bathrooms were lovely with hot water and the food was delicious. There was internet, but it only properly worked in certain sections of the house. There is another house on the property that can be rented entirely, and it's also lovely and spacious with its own kitchen and living room, though we did hear they were having problems with the hot water heater there, but I'm sure they're fixing that. The property itself is not far (45 min) from Quito but you feel when you are there that you are really in the heart of Ecuador's natural landscapes. Every detail has been thought of at Hotel Sierra Alisos, and I guarantee that if you stay there, you will feel peaceful, welcomed, and you'll enjoy yourself.
