Very considerate owners. Attentive to needs and simply curious about experiences had. Andres offered a hand drawn map of Cajas national park and suggested several wonderful hikes that were quite unique. A lovely place to relax and explore.

Absolutely fantastic place amd people, Andres and Christian were so friendly and helpful, always there to offer good advice and were so good to me. I lost my wallet when I got to cuenca and they gave me a place to stay for over 2 weeks until a replacement arrived from Ireland. Cant recommend enough. Great music too.

so awesome!!! Great staff, delicious breakfast, very affordable/reasonable price, and all the guests I met were super friendly! Has laundry machines, several showers w rentable towels, a mini book exchange, and an awesome atmosphere. Location is nice: close to the river and a staircase away from the historical centre, but a bit removed from the craziness. 10/10 would recommend!

Absolutely love this hostel. The staff is amazing, the cats are awesome and the breakfast was delicious and vegan. Only downside was the streetlight shining on my face through the thin curtains in my room. They also have bikes for rent, but I heard some were kind of broken.

This is a lovely, no frills backpacker hostel. One can be social and hang out, or just go to bed early. It tends to social hostel, but not a party place. They organize movie nights, group dinners, and other fun stuff. They also readily give advice about local attractions and getting around and sometimes (very often) loan out simple gear or bikes to folks that seem reasonable. Mallki is very safe, and for a backpacker hostel, quite clean. The showers (sometimes hot) showers and free pancakes for breakfast! I have been traveling rather slowly thru Ecuador but I spent way more time in Cuenca than expected, in part due to this hostel. The Internet can be trying at times when it drops out, but Cuenca has tons of free WiFi that generally works well and can be rather fast in the parks and squares. The sometimes cruddy Internet is the provider, not the hostel's fault. Also this is a great place for folks that are still learning Spanish as the host and many of the guests speak English. Lastly, the location is perfect - sitting in the middle of where the historic district and central food market are located and the a more modern part of the town, where there are conveniences like supermarkets and malls.

Wonderful Place. Let me work because I was out of money. Awesome owner who cares for people. I hope to come back and hangout. Close to everything in the city. Safe area. Loved my stay there.

Nice hostel with great common areas. The Staff was really nice and super helpful, especially considering Cajas National Park since someone of the staff actually worked there and can show you a "secret" path to take. The only down-side I found was that the kitchen was always pretty dirty which isn't necessarily the hostel's fault, but rather the guest who left dirty dishes everywhere... The rooms were nice and the beds had curtains which gave you more privacy.
