I am Ecuadorian, I am from Manabi and I feel the need to tell you why you should not go to this place. Today, my family and I went to El Marinero and we were not only unhappy with the food, but also with the service. I ordered a shrimp ceviche, it looked gross, pink, with lots of onion. I tried to fix it so I called the waiter and I asked him for chifle (plantain chips) lemon, salt and pepper, I told him nicely that the ceviche wasn’t great and he laughed at me, I asked him what was so funny and he said well we don’t make ceviche with chifles ( plantain chips, that’s the way we eat it in Ecuador) he told me that if I wanted chifles I would have to wait, and I said that it would be ok if he would just stop laughing at me. I asked him to call his supervisor and he came back with a very sweaty guy who looked very unsanitary. I told him I did not appreciate the way the waiter treated us, that I thought he was very disrespectful, the waiter laughed at us again and the manager told him to get out, my mother told the “manager” again that he should not allow that kind of behavior, the waiter laughed again at my mom. The Manager told us “thank you so much, We do not have food for all of you” and he kicked us out of the place while an old woman in the back clapped at us and told us to get out. it was a horrible situation and I really hope local and international tourist don’t have to deal with this kind of people. We pay for our food, we are on vacation and this is not acceptable. I don’t care if they have 50 years in the business, this is just wrong, we, Manabitas have always been kind and very nice to tourists. I am shocked by the way they treated us. DO NOT GO to this place, the food is awful and the service is a joke!
