People is very handsome there and It's a market where you can find a great variety of vegetables and fruits. They will be the three "B's" (bueno, bonito y barato) good, nice and cheap. It depends you can choose your products yourself or they will choose them for you. They will probably give you a "yapa", that's an extra portion of X fruit/vegetable, you can ask for the "yapa" too. And last but not least you can fight the price (typical ecuadorians).

The best way to know a people is to visit the local food market
Is the best mArket in the north but derty OK
If you want to get a feel for a real Ecuadorian city market walk around Ofelia for a bit. Love seeing the culture up close and personal. The produce is high quality, and though it looked great, as a foreigner I stayed away from the fish and meats as they had been sitting in the sun for a while.
I love this flew market, most of it is without roof, a lot of food products at cheap prices. I guess one of the cheapest flew markets in the city. The people is kind, ready for do business to the top that they follow you all around until you buy their products, so if you are going to visit the place, go with good amount of money, you will enjoy different experiences
Affordable prices, but overly crowded specially on Saturdays.
Fresh groceries and fruites with good price
Great variety including some very exotic fruits (if you know where to find them), and cheapest prices ever. The problems are the disorder, the low quality and the general lack of higiene (to put it mildly).
