Though the sushi we had (see photos of the “boat”) was good, the rice was not true Japanese sushi rice as we know it from Japan or other Japanese owned and operated sushi shops in the US. Nonetheless, given that this is Cuenca we felt that the quality was good. The service was attentive and the seating area is very attractive. We’ll keep looking for authentic Japanese style sushi but probably have to wait until our return to Japan. Meanwhile, for those who like the “rolls” (which are not so common in Japan and never use the mayonnaise and other think heavy sauces seen here and elsewhere in the west) Mocagi-san is a good, reasonably priced choice.

The best sushi ever in Cuenca!! They're amazing, I'm living in another country right now and they made everything perfect for my boyfriend's birthday. I don't have words to express myself and gratitude. Thank you so much for the night. I'm extremely happy and satisfied with the sushi ship and the cake. Also you added the balloon on your own thank you for the pictures and videos. He's happy and he loved your sushi!! Thank you so much for the night. The big 49 boat was more than enough for 4 people. We've eaten there several times now and found the sushi to be consistently tasty and artistically-presented.

Excellent sushi! We ordered the boat which included something like 4 specialty rolls and a handful of regular rolls for 49. We opted to let the chef decide which ones to include because it was our first time there and we like everything so we went for his recos. My bar is set pretty low for South American sushi, but this tasted like being back home in USA which is what I was looking for. Great service too. I'm not in Cuenca often, but when I am from now on, Mocagi-San and El Capitan are the two must-eat-at restaurants on my list.

Best sushi-bar in Ecuador!! The service is excellent and the food is extremely delicious. I can easily say that it’s the best sushi I’ve ever eaten, and in the most friendly environment as well. Mocagi-San is without a doubt my favorite restaurant, it’s always such a joyful experience being there and eating such well-made fresh food. I highly recommend you go there, I promise you won’t regret it.

Love the owners and they speak a little English which is helpful at times. I speak a little Spanish. Being an ex sushi chef in Atlanta GA, I say they do a very good job at the rolls and nigiri. I love going there, the food is always fresh and the wait isn't that long plus they do social distancing very well and sanitize everything to the Ecuadorian codes of Health. We will continue going there I would love to see if they can get Hamachi (yellowfin tuna) and I better tuna like oro. (,fatty tuna) Thank you!
