Located about 35-40 minutes outside of Atacames, Playa Escondida is an excellent choice if you want to avoid the crowds for some quiet R&R. Keep in mind that this is an eco lodge so there are only composting toilets, cold showers, and no fans. Since it is so far out of the way, you’ll largely be relying on the hostel restaurant for meals. The prices are fine but they’re definitely more expensive than what you could find in town. Overall, I had a great experience and recommend this eco lodge but booking a cabana for my stay was a bit of a hassle at first.

Nice, safe and relaxing place to have a swim and some food. Entrance was 5 but you get half the price if you have lunch at their restaurant.

Awesome setting in a secluded beach. Campsites with beach views. However, camping is more expensive than usual. The manager is quite unfriendly which is a shame, because the rest of the staff was lovely. In any case, would still recommend!

The owner here actually let me work in the kitchen to pay my tab. Beautiful remote place, environmentally friendly and quiet, and EXCELLENT food. I miss it.
