Friendly, fascinating and familiar...first off! The drive, or ride, into the Rio Intag Valley is breathtakingly dramatic and beautiful. Once Jimena, at Pacheco Farmhouse however, all the exhilarating drama settles at once into a feeling of having arrived “home”. Though our visit with Jimena and her mother, Marga, was caught short every minute of our time was filled with pleasure, from the beautiful vistas in the immediate area to a beautiful, relaxing walk through gorgeous farmland and up to a nearby cascade, and including two absolutely delicious home cooked meals. My only caveat would be that if you’re over 6 feet tall and like to sleep with your partner you may want to clarify that you need a queen or a king size bed. That said, I can’t wait to visit again.

This is a very special place. The surroundings and scenery are utterly spectacular, but what made this stay above and beyond anywhere else we have stayed in our two months of travelling was the hospitality from both Jimena and Marga. Every element was thoughtful, unique and enhanced our experience. From the helpful tips on exploring the area (discovering waterfalls, coffee fincas and zip lines) to the amazing home cooked breakfasts and dinner (and the wine - it was SUCH a treat to drink good wine after two months in Colombia!), fascinating stories and long chats over dinner and cuddles with their lovely dogs. The interiors are gorgeous - and everything (the bed, the chairs, the pillows, the sofas) were so comfortable - I don’t think I’ve ever slept so well. My partner and I can not recommend this guest house enough
A great place to relax and unrewind. The cottage looked exactly like the pictures and our experience at the cottage was better than expected. Jimena was very friendly and a great Chef. I would highly recommend this place!
We stayed at thus cute Finca and had the most amazing time! We were able to sleep at Pacheco last minute without booking, which was very nice and helpfull. You sleep in the cutest cabins along the river with a beautiful view from the window of the cabin. We had two nice breakfasts and a dinner, all homemade and super yummie! The pancake with fruit for breakfast was absolutely delicious. The owner of the house and her mother were super helpfull and they informed us about the hikes in the neighbourhood. When we hitchhiked out of the Pacheco farmhouse, someone helper us and talked with us while waiting for a car to take us to otovalo. View things to consider: 1) Its a cloudforest so Its wet! (Though also hot!) 2) You have to take the bus from otovalo to apuela and inform the busdriver that you want to go to the stop ‘Tierra del sol’. The bus will stop there and the Pacheco farmhouse is right across 3) absolutely go here! Intag (the valley) is gorgeous and theres lots to see and do, the owner will help with all your questions :)
It is a nice place to apreciate nature. The place is big, conftable and exelent for friends and family trips. I stayed there for two days and fall in love with the valley and its views
If you're looking for a relaxing stay by the river off of the beaten path, this is it. I stayed in a little guest house with a scenic view of the mountains, and boy was it an experience. Falling asleep to the gentle roar of the river was something I've never experienced before. The home cooked meals were delicious and fresh. We were also fortunate enough to tour the coffee farm and the thermal hot springs, both reasonably close enough to this farm house. Jimena and her mother were great hosts - listen to these reviews and definitely check this place out!
Really one of the best (maybe THE best) experiences i ever made. I can not recommend this place enough. First of all the area itself is really beautiful and lovely, the sound of the river is so relaxing and made me fall asleep in seconds. The rooms and beds were absolutely comfortable and clean. We had the best meals here on our journey through Ecuador. Jimena and her team always cooked fresh, healthy and delicious food and we really enjoyed the time sitting all together in the lovely decorated ambiance. We went out for hiking, relaxed in the hot springs close to the cottage and mastered the zipline. Marga and Jimena gave us some very helpful tips what to explore and were always helpful and supporting. We really loved to stay in Pacheco Farmhouse during our trip. I will always remember the great and entertaining evenings, sitting with a wine or a beer and enjoying the great conversations with Marga and Jimena. I had a wonderful stay at Pacheco Farmhouse. I came as a treat whilst on a long travelling trip and so glad I did. The bed was super comfortable and the food was not only incredibly delicious but also varied. And for anyone wanting to stretch their legs the surrounding area is superb for walking and hiking. I highly recommend anyone to stay here! Thanks Jimena for a great stay :)
