We spent 5 days in the Cuyabeno Dolphin lodge. We had a great time! The place is not called Dolphin lodge for nothing, as you can see the river dolphins right next to the lodging. Nature: So beautiful. We saw a wide range of animals such as anacondas, boas, spiders, sloths, 5 types of monkeys, ant eater, caiman, dolphins and various birds and butterflies. 10/10 Facilities and food: Nothing fancy, but everything you need: we had a double bed, mosquito net, towels, soap and hot water in our room. But remember, it's a jungle lodge, not a typical hostel! The shared space included free water, coffee, tea and cocoa at all times. The food wasn't anything fancy but I liked it - a lot better than an average almuerzo in the cities. Breakfast was good, especially the bread they made and the lemon juice. 8/10 Naturalists: They were both, Darwin and Pedro born and raised in the jungle. They knew the river and the animals like their own pockets. They were great and happy to answer any questions you had. It was amazing how they spotted the animals in the dense forrest. If you meet Darwin, ask him to show his animal pictures from his phone, they were great! 10/10 Program: The highlight was definitely the night walk in the jungle and the visit to the Siona village. It was nice to see how they lived and the shaman was a funny fellow. We cooked yucca bread from skratch for lunch, served with tuna salad and rice. Yammy! I wish we have had a bit more walking in the jungle as now we were sitting quite a lot in the canoe - which is the best place to see the wildlife. 8/10
